How many cold emails can I safely send per day?

A realistic per mailbox limit

For cold outreach, somewhere between twenty and fifty messages per mailbox per day is a sensible working range once a domain is properly warmed. Some operators push higher, and some get away with it for a while.

The number matters less than the consistency. A mailbox sending thirty a day every day looks normal. One sending five today and two hundred tomorrow does not.

Why spikes are the real problem

Mailbox providers model normal behaviour for each sender. Sudden changes in volume are treated as a signal that an account has been compromised or is being used for bulk spam, and filtering tightens accordingly.

Ramping down after a spike does not undo it quickly. Reputation recovers far more slowly than it degrades.

How volume actually scales

To send more, you add mailboxes rather than pushing each one harder. Volume is then spread across many senders, each staying inside a safe daily range.

This is why serious outreach runs on infrastructure rather than a single company mailbox, and why sending high volume from your main business domain is a bad idea.

The limit that matters more than volume

Relevance. Sending two hundred well targeted emails will outperform two thousand poorly targeted ones on replies, and will not generate the complaints that destroy a domain.
